What is Acai?
Acai is a palm tree with dark purple berries found in South America, this antioxidant fruit is rich in the bioflavonoid anthocyanins, and high in amino acid and fatty acids.

Traditionally Acai fruit was used for diabetes, dysmenorrhoea and hepatitis which are still believed to be beneficial.

Why take Acai?

It has been suggested through clinical research the use of Acai may prevent or treat:

  • AnaemiaAcai
  • Hepatitis
  • Arthritis
  • High Cholesterol
  • Dysmenorrhoea
  • Diabetes

In more recent times Acai has become popular as a dieters supplement. It helps to cleanse the digestive system and also has been known to slightly increase an individual's metabolic rate. This means more calories are burned than normal which in turn can assist with weight loss.

There has been some bad press where people sign up for 'free' trials of Acai supplements and then are unable to cancel the subscription they don't realise they set up at the same time. We do not recommend signing up to any of these programmes but can point you in the right direction if you want to buy some Acai capsules we can recommend the Acai 300mg product from Just Vitamins.

What are the side effects of Acai?

At the time of writing there are no reported side effects.

If you are currently taking any prescribed medication or have any medical conditions please consult your doctor or consultant, to seek advice before taking any vitamins or supplements.
