Vitamin B7 is a co-enzyme and helps the body to metabolise carbohydrates and fats. It also breaks down proteins for their use as an energy source. Another use by the body is to help maintain healthy hair, skin and nails.

A deficiency of Vitamin B7 is rare although can sometimes occur in people on a very low calorie diet or on long term antibiotics.

Natural food sources of Biotin include oily fish, brown rice, eggs, liver and kidney. Cauliflower is an excellent vegetable source for vegans and vegetarians.

It is thought a supplement of Biotin can help keep hair and nails strong and healthy. We recommend trying a supplement that contains all the main B Vitamins or a multi-vitamin that contains all the main A-Zinc vitamins and minerals in the correct proportions to maintain good health.
